The Utah Museum of Natural History, a member of the University of Utah system in Salt Lake City, was established in 1963 to create a central location to house various natural history collections held in disparate locations on the campus. The Museum opened to the public in 1969, following conversion of this Depression-era library building. Today, the Museum serves as the state museum of natural history. Exhibits and educational programs are the mainstay of its public programming, with a focus on Utah and the surrounding intermountain region. The Museum also houses more than one million objects divided into three major collections – anthropology, biology, and earth sciences.

Gilgal Garden is not a masterpiece of art but of culture. It seems quite bizarre. It's worth a visit.

I visited this garden, not long ago and was dissapointed. If you are visiting to see a strange instance of local culture, A Utah oddity, i highly reccomend it as it contains the famed "Joseph Smith Sphinx", however the sculptors skills were amature, and the pervasive smell of wonder bread, (it is directly adjacent to a massive bakery) will likely detract from your experience. I also take issue with the descriptions statement "gilgal sculpture garden is significant as the only identified "visionary art environment" in utah. if you are interested in "visionary art" I recommend the Spiral Jetty.
